About Mentors
Studio visits with artist mentors are a key part of an artist’s practice. Most importantly, they help us further develop the conceptual and technical aspects of our work. Beyond the creation of the artwork itself, the insights and knowledge gained when working with an artist mentor builds an artist’s practice in a multitude of other ways. Their experience is immeasurable, ranging from critical discourse, technical know-how, and career advice, to the practicalities of setting up and running a studio, networking, and building a professional practice.
Not all artists have access to an artist mentor. That’s why we want to help.
How MENTORS CAN Help
Through ongoing one-on-one sessions, a mentor can further develop many aspects of your art practice. Mentor:
Richard Pasquarelli
32 years ago, I moved to New York City to pursue my career as an artist. I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t have an MFA, and I didn’t know where to start.
Since then, I have exhibited my work in museums, galleries, and art fairs throughout the U.S. and Europe and been acquired by many prominent public and private collections. I have created public installations for the City of New York, attended a multitude of artists residencies throughout the country, and been a visiting artist, advisor, and lecturer, at several universities. I have also been featured on several live radio shows and podcasts.
The knowledge I have gained over the last 3 decades is expansive. Whether it’s the conceptual or technical creation of my work, to getting it out into the world, I have done it all. The dos and don’ts of the art world, the unspoken rules, and the day-to-day logistics of being an artist – everything I wish I knew 30 years ago, I want to share with you.
